Travel Plans

Day 1: Islamabad to Naran/Kaghan or Chilas

The journey from Islamabad typically takes 8-10 hours, depending on whether you travel via Naran/Kaghan or Babusar Pass during the summer. You’ll begin with an early morning departure, heading north along the breathtaking Karakoram Highway. A breakfast stop is planned at either Mansehra or Balakot. For lunch, you can choose between Naran/Kaghan or Chilas, based on the season and chosen route. By evening, you'll arrive in your destination—Naran/Kaghan or Chilas—and check into a hotel for the night. Enjoy an overnight stay in one of these picturesque locations.

Day 2: Naran/Kaghan or Chilas to Skardu

On Day 2, after a hearty breakfast, continue your journey to Skardu, traversing the rugged mountain terrain of the Karakoram Highway. The drive will take approximately 8-10 hours. Enjoy lunch en route in Jaglot or near the scenic meeting point of the Indus River. Upon arrival in Skardu in the afternoon, check into your hotel and take some time to relax. In the evening, you’ll have the freedom to explore the local bazaar and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. Overnight stay will be in Skardu.

Day 3: Skardu - Shangrila Resort and Upper Kachura Lake

On the morning of Day 3, after breakfast, start by visiting the renowned Shangrila Resort, also known as "Heaven on Earth," located at Lower Kachura Lake. The area is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery. Next, head to Upper Kachura Lake, famous for its clear blue waters and tranquil, less crowded environment. For lunch, enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or resort. In the afternoon, you can either explore Skardu town or take some time to relax and unwind. Your overnight stay will again be in Skardu.

Day 4: Deosai Plains and Sheosar Lake

On Day 4, embark on an early morning departure for a full-day excursion to Deosai National Park, renowned as one of the highest plateaus in the world. The drive to Deosai takes approximately 2-3 hours one way. A major highlight of your visit will be Sheosar Lake, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. Lunch will be a packed meal or picnic at Deosai, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the park's natural beauty. In the afternoon, continue to explore the park’s diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. Return to Skardu in the evening for your overnight stay.

Day 5: Skardu to Hunza via Gilgit

On Day 5, after breakfast, set out for Hunza, a journey of approximately 6-7 hours, driving alongside the picturesque Indus and Gilgit rivers. Stop for lunch in Gilgit city along the way. Upon arrival in Hunza, visit the charming town of Karimabad and check into your hotel. Spend the evening exploring Karimabad at your leisure, taking in the local culture and vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy your overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 6: Explore Hunza - Baltit Fort and Altit Fort

On Day 6, after breakfast, start your day with a visit to Baltit Fort in Karimabad. This ancient fort offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and peaks. Next, explore Altit Fort and its beautifully restored gardens, immersing yourself in the rich history of the region. Enjoy lunch in Karimabad or Altit. In the afternoon, head to Attabad Lake, a stunning turquoise lake that was formed following a landslide in 2010. Spend the evening relaxing and taking in the spectacular views of the Hunza Valley. Day 7: Passu Cones and Khunjerab Pass (Pakistan-China Border)

On Day 7, start with an early breakfast before embarking on a full-day excursion to Khunjerab Pass, the highest border crossing between Pakistan and China. The journey to the pass takes about 4-5 hours one way. Along the way, make a stop to admire the iconic jagged peaks of the Passu Cones. Continue to Khunjerab Pass, which sits at an elevation of 4,693 meters, offering stunning views and a unique vantage point at the border. Enjoy a packed lunch or stop at a local restaurant en route. Return to Hunza in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.
